Comments Off

Two young children were hospitalized at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, in Providence, after a car crash on Wednesday in Swansea, according to police.

A two-year-old is in critical condition and a one-year-old is in stable condition.

The crash happened in front of Early Mind Daycare on Route 6, when the car, transporting the children, was pulling out of the daycare and struck by a Swansea Police cruiser who was trying to stop a vehicle with a suspended registration.

According to police, the officer was not in pursuit of the vehicle at that time.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken to Rhode Island Hospital and listed in stable condition. While the officer was taken to Charlton Memorial, treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing.
